Process

How it works

From the first conversation with a farm to discharge at the buyer — six steps, each one owned by FERGUS.

  1. Farm

    The farm

We work directly with farms and agro-holdings — no chain of intermediaries. An agronomist and a trader visit the fields to assess crop rotation, stand condition and yield outlook.

  2. Sourcing

    Prefinancing or direct purchase

We work with a farm in one of two ways. A forward contract fixes volume, quality and price before sowing, and the farm receives a cash advance exactly when it matters most. Or we buy the crop directly during the season — no advance, no commitment made ahead of time.

  3. Intake

    Harvest and intake

Grain is received at certified elevators, where it is cleaned and laboratory-tested. Every lot gets a quality passport that travels with it all the way to the end buyer.

  4. Rail

    Rail transport

Shipments move across Central Asia, the CIS and Europe. Wagon placement is planned in advance, which removes the region’s main export bottleneck — rolling-stock scarcity at peak season.

  5. Transshipment

    Transshipment and port

Gauge change at Dostyk and Khorgos for the China route, transshipment at Aktau on the Caspian, and multimodal routes via Black Sea and Baltic ports. Documents, phytosanitary work and customs run in parallel with the cargo.

  6. Destination

    Delivery to the buyer

Delivery on FCA, FOB, CFR, CIF, CPT or DAP terms as agreed. The buyer gets verified quality, predictable timing and a single point of contact accountable for the whole chain from field to discharge.
